Fauci unable to produce science supporting masks, lockdowns under cross-examination

In a seven-hour deposition last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci proved unable to produce science supporting his promotion of lockdowns and masks during the pandemic which led to mandates of mass destruction.

The purpose of the deposition was to grill the public health chief regarding his knowledge and/or involvement in the Biden administration’s collusion with tech oligarchies to censor speech regarding COVID-19.

A lawsuit filed in May by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry alleges a “collusion enterprise” based on previously revealed internal emails between the federal government and social media companies. Judge Terry Doughty ruled in favor of deposing top Biden officials, including former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, current White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and Anthony Fauci.

Lawyers present at Fauci’s cross-examination said that the National Institutes of Allergy and Infections Diseases (NIAID) director, who last year called himself “the science,” could not name any studies to support the use of face masks as an effective tool against COVID-19.

Early in the pandemic, Fauci famously advised against face masks, saying “the typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through the material.”

He suddenly reversed course about two months later, insisting that every individual wear a mask around others. This became the basis for the Biden administration’s debilitating and divisive mandate.

However, Fauci could not cite any studies to support his relentless two-and-a-half-year push for universal masking across all age groups.

“He was asked what studies or study changed his mind in that interim, which is what he claimed—he claimed that it was studied. He couldn’t name any,” New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) Litigation Counsel Jenin Younes, one of the lawyers present, told The Epoch Times.

In fact, the only two randomized controlled trials on masks found that masks were largely, if not completely, ineffective. One from Bangladesh, published in 2021, showed that masks provide an 11% infection decrease for older people and no impact on younger people. The other, a Danish study published in 2020, showed that masks have no effect on infections at all.

But despite evidence against mask-wearing, Fauci remained a staunch advocate of masks, which he continuously claimed was backed by “science”.

Furthermore, though the 81-year-old encouraged lockdowns – proven to be mass destructive and ineffective in lowering mortality rates – the only basis for his stance was his deputy Dr. Clifford Lane. Lane returned from China and raved to Fauci about the success of lockdowns, though there had been no scientific evidence supporting the mandate.

“Another gem from today’s deposition of Dr. Fauci,” wrote Younes on Twitter last week. “His friend Cliff Lane traveled to China at the beginning of 2020, and determined that we should emulate China— at least to a degree—bc they had done such a good job containing the virus.

“Of course, human rights- not to mention China’s questionable credibility when it comes to reporting—didn’t factor into Fauci’s determination (not explicitly stated). Incidentally, Fauci found that evidence to support efficacy of hydroxychloroquine was lacking because the trials were not randomized and controlled, but was apparently willing to base his lockdown advocacy on the observations of a single guy relying on reports from a dictator.”

The attorneys general who brought the lawsuit against the Biden administration also shared their takeaways from Fauci’s deposition.

“Wow! It was amazing to spend 7 hours with Dr. Fauci,” tweeted Louisiana AG Landry. “The man who single-handedly wrecked the U.S. economy based upon ‘the science.’ Only to discover that he can't recall practically anything dealing with his Covid response!”

“One thing is clear from the 7 hour deposition of Dr. Fauci today: When Fauci speaks — social media censors,” wrote Attorney General Eric Schmitt on Twitter Wednesday.

“Some takeaways from the deposition of Fauci:

  • Fauci knew the Lab Leak theory had merit but it’d come back to him & sought to immediately discredit i
  • He defended lockdowns
  • The rest of us ‘don’t have the ability’ to determine what’s best for ourselves

“More to come—Stay tuned,” Schmitt added.
