Your body, her choice: Harris campaign maintains vaccine mandate
The Kamala Harris presidential campaign is requiring employees and volunteers to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 shots.
“Harris for President requires all employees to be ‘up to date’ on COVID-19 vaccination status as prescribed by the CDC as a condition of employment, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law,” reads a job ad for a Harris campaign senior designer. According to the New York Post, the Harris for President website indicates that the mandate is in force for all open positions with the Democratic National Committee.
“Although Harris claims to support science [t]he requirement is anti science. It suggests the campaign is still catering to the most irrational voices out there,” said University of California San Francisco Epidemiology and Biostatics Professor Dr. Vinay Prasad.
An unending vaccine mandate?
Harris does not appear to have ever paused her demand for COVID-19 vaccinations. In January last year, she gave a speech promoting abortion where attendees were forced to sign an “Attestation of Vaccination” form affirming their vaccination status. Anyone not fully vaccinated was ordered to submit a negative COVID test, wear a mask, and physically distance themselves from others.
“Guests who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or who decline to indicate whether they are fully vaccinated will be required to (i) complete a COVID-19 test at most 3 days prior to the event, (ii) wear a mask at all times while attending this event, and (iii) maintain proper social distancing protocols at the event,” read the form.
The White House indicated that the requirement to disclose one’s vaccination status and restrictions for those with a lower vaccination status were “in accordance with White House health and safety policies, and consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”
However, contrary to the White House’s claim, the CDC had months before changed its guidance on COVID-19 “prevention measures” to “no longer differentiate based on a person’s vaccination status.” CDC guidance also does not require vaccination status disclosure.
Despite her endless vaccine mandate, Harris has continued to maintain that the government has no right to control an individual’s bodily autonomy.
