Trump moves to shutter major deep state operator
President Donald Trump will shut down the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Elon Musk said Monday.
Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been tasked with scrutinizing the federal government’s activities and spending, including USAID’s. The deep state organization, widely seen as a front for the intelligence community, has been trying to impede Musk’s probing. Last week, the Trump administration placed two senior USAID officials on leave after they refused to hand over classified information to DOGE employees.
After gaining access, DOGE’s investigation has revealed billions of taxpayer funds spent on promoting the Left’s agenda around the globe. Expenditures include transgender operas in Colombia, DEI initiatives in Serbia, and the publication of a transgender comic book in Peru. The Gold Report previously detailed how USAID sponsors Pride parades and LGBT propaganda in predominantly Christian countries and works with organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to dispense birth control around the world.
Shaping political landscapes
USAID, established by the federal government in the early 1960s under the pretext of providing “humanitarian aid” worldwide, also uses its $40-billion budget to fund initiatives that shape political landscapes. The agency was instrumental in helping the terrorist African National Congress assume power in South Africa. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr told reporter Tucker Carlson that USAID spent $5 billion on fomenting riots in Ukraine in 2014, triggering the coup d’etat that toppled its administration.
The CIA’s propaganda arm
Kennedy has also said that USAID is the propaganda arm of the CIA.
“The CIA promised that it would no longer compromise American journalists,” Kennedy told journalist James O’Keefe. “It continued the program to compromise journalists all over the world, and today the CIA is the biggest funder of journalism in the world. They fund it through USAID.”
Censorship, Soros prosecutors, and Black Lives Matter
Former State Department official and Foundation for Freedom Online Executive Director Mike Benz says USAID acts as a hub for the intelligence community, the State Department, and the Pentagon.
“When it’s too dirty for the CIA, you give it to USAID,” he stated.
Benz said in a recent interview that USAID has been engineering the censorship of Americans on social media, joining forces with the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, NewsGuard, and other censors powered by the Biden administration.
“In 2021, they made a formal policy pivot to stopping disinformation on the internet and they targeted US technology companies. They targeted Facebook, they targeted Twitter 1.0, they targeted YouTube, they targeted all of the online information space,” Benz told Steve Bannon.
The deep state expert added that USAID also shapes the domestic landscape by funneling money through US organizations. The agency gave $27 million to an organization that supports Soros-backed prosecutors, he said, as well as to The Tides Center, an incubator for subversive Marxist groups like Black Lives Matter.
The Trump administration has already closed USAID’s offices and ordered agency employees to work from home pending further instructions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been named acting USAID administrator in the interim.
“None of this could be done without the full support of the president, you know,” Musk told X users after midnight on Monday. “And with regard to the USAID stuff, I went over it with him in detail, and he agreed that we should shut it down . . . And I actually checked with him a few times. I said, ‘Are you sure?’ He’s like, ‘Yes.’ So we’re shutting it down.”
