This week in #DiedSuddenly (Vol. 8)

Reports of healthy, young people dying unexpectedly continue to pour in daily, a phenomenon the media and their doctors are dismissing as Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).

Out of the many cases sent to Frontline News this week, we have chosen a small handful to include in this report to help shine a spotlight on these ‘unexplained’ deaths.

Jeff Herman, 64

Jeffrey Alan Herman of West Warwick, Rhode Island, died suddenly on April 23, 2023. He had reportedly been vaccinated with the COVID-19 injections on June 9, 2021. Herman publicly advocated for using scare tactics on those who refused the shots and imprisoning those who refused to wear masks.

“Jeff was a kind and thoughtful man who will be deeply missed,” reads Herman’s obituary on Legacy.com.

Dexter Khan-Barnes, 2 months

A British coroner last week said he is unable to explain why a two-month-old infant died suddenly in his sleep in July last year.

Dexter Khan-Barnes was born prematurely at 32 weeks via cesarean section after his mother, Laura Barnes, suffered a fatal blood clot. According to Laura’s mother, Jennifer, Laura had also suffered a stroke in the months prior.

Dexter was discharged from the neonatal unit six weeks after birth into the care of his father, Shane Khan. — Frontline News

Nathan McKnight, 19

A Liverpool FC fan who 'lived and breathed' the club has died suddenly after feeling pain in his chest.

Nathan McKnight, from Bromborough, was at home with his mum watching Batman when he suddenly started to feel pain in his chest. The 19-year-old suffered from a number of conditions prior to his chest pain which included Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disease which gradually reduced his mobility and independence, in addition to contending with cardiomyopathy, epilepsy, Addison's disease and severe scoliosis as his condition progressed.

Nathan called his mum into the room, who called an ambulance to take him to Arrowe Park Hospital. The 19-year-old went into cardiac arrest and despite a number of attempts to revive him he died on Monday, June 12. — Liverpool Echo

Stephen Cline, 58

Longtime San Diego criminal defense attorney Stephen Cline collapsed in a downtown San Diego courtroom Tuesday while arguing a pre-trial motion in a 27-year-old homicide case, and later died after being taken to a hospital.

His sudden death both stunned and saddened his colleagues as well as judges and prosecutors, who knew Cline as a dedicated defense lawye

r — whether working for the Office of the Public Defender, as he did in two separate stints, or while he worked in private practice in downtown San Diego.

The cause of the collapse is not known. Cline, 58, was about 30 minutes into what was going to be a lengthy argument in Department 2002 in front of San Diego Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Fraser when he suddenly stopped speaking and fell to the ground. His wife was in the gallery to listen to the arguments. — San Diego Tribune

Unidentified girl, 11

A tragic incident occurred on a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to New York on Sunday, resulting in the loss of an 11-year-old girl’s life.

The pilot made an emergency landing in Budapest, Hungary, as a doctor on board attempted to help the girl.

According to the airline, emergency medical personnel promptly boarded the Airbus A330-300 but despite their tireless efforts, they were unable to save the young passenger.

"Our cabin crew made the announcement on the PA system for any doctors on board while the captain of the flight immediately diverted to Budapest,” a Turkish Airlines spokesperson told CBS News in a statement. “As a doctor among our passengers attended the situation and performed heart massage, our cockpit crew made an emergency landing in Budapest.” — Breaking 911

Hayley Lund, 43

A father whose ex-wife died from a heart attack at the age of just 43 is campaigning for every business to provide a defibrillator.

Hayley Lund, who lived in Wellingborough and worked as a temp in an HR role, collapsed while at the vet with her daughter Megan, 22.

“My ex-wife passed away at the end of April following a sudden heart attack,” said David.

Hayley had no prior health conditions her family had been aware of, however she had woken in the night — a month before she died — and called an ambulance after struggling to breathe.

She had a full panel of tests at the hospital, but was told she had a problem with her ribs. Tragically, Hayley texted her former partner the next day saying, “I thought I was having a heart attack.” — Northampton Chronicle

Robert Crawford, 44

The family of a devoted dad from Coatbridge has been left devastated following his sudden death at the age of 44.

Robert Crawford sadly passed away in hospital days after taking unwell at his home, leaving behind his beloved wife and kids.

He had no health problems or complaints so his death has been a massive shock.

We live down the stairs from Robert and his wife Margaret Anne, so we were chapped at 2am on Sunday and told that something was wrong with Robert.

He had gone into cardiac arrest. My partner worked on him and so did his wife before he was taken to hospital. They thought it was something to do with his heart so they put a stent in but his condition deteriorated over the next few days. — Glasgow Live
