This week in #DiedSuddenly (Vol. 10)

Reports of healthy, young people dying unexpectedly continue to pour in daily, a phenomenon the media and their doctors are dismissing as Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).    

Out of the many cases sent to Frontline News this week, we have chosen a small handful to include in this report to help shine a spotlight on these ‘unexplained’ deaths.

 Schoolboy, 11

"Police have launched an investigation into the death of an 11-year-old boy who died at home.

"Officers and paramedics rushed to Nelson Street in Burton, Staffordshire, on Friday, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

"In a statement, they said: 'We were called to Nelson Street in Burton at 8.37am on Friday (August 4), following reports of a medical episode.'" — Express

Tajh Boyd, 19

“Liberty University offensive lineman Tajh Boyd has died, according to an announcement Sunday from the school.

“Boyd was 19. No cause of death has yet been revealed.” — Daily Caller

Kota Kinabalu, 39

"KOTA KINABALU: A football fan who collapsed while watching Sabah FC taking on Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at the Likas Stadium here on Wednesday (Aug 9) has passed away.

"The 39-year-old man was said to have suddenly collapsed at around 8.30pm, moments after Sabah FC scored a goal in the Super League match." — The Star Online

Jack Reay, 26

"A popular Staffordshire Police officer has tragically died on a trip to Mallorca. Family, friends and colleagues of PC Jack Reay are said to be devastated following his sudden death.

"He was on the Spanish island with friends when he suffered a cardiac arrest and died. The rugby player - described as a 'ray of sunshine' - was just 26 years old." — Birmingham Mail

Gan Teik Chai, 40

"Gan Teik Chai, a Malaysian Badminton player, who played a significant role in boosting the Malaysian Badminton community, passed away on August 5, 2023, at 40.

"Gan Teik Chai’s cause of death was a heart attack. He died suddenly with no signs or symptoms of chronic illness." — Open Sky News

Robert Wachendorf, 45

"Kristine Wachendorf gave birth to her eighth child July 26, just days after losing her husband.

"Robert Wachendorf, a long-time Brick resident, died July 22 of cardiac arrest. He was 45." — Asbury Park Press

Ambareesh Murty, 51

"Pepperfry co-founder and CEO Ambareesh Murty died due to cardiac arrest. He was 51 years old. Ambareesh Murty breathed his last in Leh on Monday, 7 August." — Mint

Jerry O’Brien, 60

"A Derbyshire family has been left heartbroken after a beloved father and grandfather died suddenly while on holiday in the USA. Jerry O'Brien, from Alfreton, was visiting his son Kane in Oklahoma when he collapsed at a water park in Missouri unexpectedly.

"CPR was administered by those nearby but Mr O'Brien couldn't be saved. The 60-year-old's cause of death is yet to be established following the incident on Sunday, July 30." — Derbyshire Live

Enrique 'Ricky' Castellon-Davis, 23

"A Navy sailor who served more than four years as a midshipman in Maryland died unexpectedly and his family is looking to bring him home.

"Enrique 'Ricky' Castellon-Davis, who served the US Navy before heading into the private sector, died on Sunday, Aug. 6, leaving his family in a lurch as they mourn the passing." — Daily Voice
