Pay twice to escape government education?
Government education is neither safe nor effective, as previously documented by Frontline News.
Unfortunately, it’s not just that children are being taught to hate their country.
No time to learn anything else?
New York City spends $28,808 per student, and pays teachers up to $128,657, with the entire summer off, while test scores continue to decline. In the city’s most well funded borough, the Bronx, 41% of adults lack basic prose literacy skills.
The problem of public schools is not limited to the world’s financial hub. Nationwide, two-thirds of eighth graders are not proficient in math and reading.
Physically unsafe
All this as the schools themselves increasingly become crime scenes, with a massive spike in violence inside public schools nationwide.
Even the very pro-government schooling National Education Association warns of sexual assault occurring “with alarming frequency in school bathrooms, on school playgrounds, and in the backs of school buses.”
How, then, should a parent properly educate their child?
Just pay twice?
Congress has yet to take action on the bill submitted to defund the Department of Education.
As documented in Math and Marxism, some parents have pulled their children from public schools, not waiting for massive tax savings that would come with passage of the bill. They were urged on by increasingly “radical teachers who … use their classrooms to indoctrinate students in left-wing, anti-American ideology.”
These parents are now paying tuition twice, once through their tax burden and a second time in the way of private school tuition.
Or not
Increasingly, though, parents are choosing a third option and simply keeping their children home, as many parents cannot afford to “pay twice,” and, in any case, many private schools, expensive as they are, have lurched toward an open embrace of socialism.
You can’t escape the left-wing ideology and mind control found in many public schools by moving your kid to an elite private school.
Thanks to left-wing administrators and accreditors, those schools are often even more ideologically narrow-minded and “woke” than the public schools. [Emphases added].
Concerned parents of private school children have even established several groups, including Prep School Accountability, to combat the socialist takeover of their children’s curricula and bemoaning that “A new orthodoxy has emerged at our schools, dividing our communities based on immutable characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.”
Fearing backlash against their children, these parents have anonymously funded the placement of protest signs at several posh New York schools reading,

For sure not
A protest at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School was called to address a more egregious change to the curriculum:
When juniors at the $47,000-a-year Manhattan school showed up for a health and sexuality workshop, most thought it was “just going to be about condoms or birth control” …
Instead, it was something called “Pornography Literacy: An intersectional focus on mainstream porn” …
The often-explicit slide presentation and lecture … to the 120 boys and girls included lessons on how porn takes care of “three big male vulnerabilities” … photos of partially-nude women, some in bondage [as part of] the social theory “intersectionality”, a component from critical race theory …
One slide cited various porn genres such as “incest-themed,” … “barely legal,” and … torture porn
Homeschooling takes off
As reported in the New American, many minority parents are joining the walkout from the formal education system:
New data from the U.S. Census Bureau confirm earlier polling results showing an unprecedented explosion in the number of families choosing to educate their children at home, free from government indoctrination, sexualization, forced masking, and dangerous dumbing down.
Homeschooling rates grew fastest among black Americans.
The shift has been enormous. By the fall of 2020, the overall number of homeschooling families doubled, Census data show. In the Spring of 2020, just over 5 percent of families were educating children at home.
By the fall, homeschoolers grew to represent over 11 percent of all American households with school-age children.
The corona effect
Even mainstream media has reported on the incredible turn towards homeschooling, highlighting the effect draconian coronavirus measures have had on parental decision making in articles with titles like, Homeschooling In California Sees Boom; Looming Kids’ COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate May Be Driving Increase.
Besides the state vaccine mandate, many parents are monitoring state legislative proposals:
One would allow kids aged 12 and older to get the vaccine without their parents' permission or knowledge.
Another bill would eliminate the personal belief exemption in mandating the vaccine for kindergarten through 12th graders.
It's one of the reasons why Jessica Ortiz walked out of her speech therapy job and pulled her second grader out of his private school.
Set for another surge?
A new film to be released next month may accelerate the move to homeschooling as it brings the message of the benefits of avoiding formal schooling to new segments of society such as parents without friends or relatives who are already homeschooling.

Taking back our tax dollars?
As more and more parents turn to homeschooling, the national sentiment against funding a failing public school system, one which proves to be of no use to the very children whose parents are paying taxes to fund it, naturally swells.
Of course, returning (or not charging) some $28,808 of taxed funds per child to their parents to use to hire various tutors or to allow a parent to leave work and teach children at home would create a snowball effect in which more and more parents left the public school system.
Is it realistic?
