Palestine emerges as central theme in immigration riots

As the pro-illegal immigration riots in Los Angeles enter their sixth straight day, pro-Palestinian sentiment has emerged as a central theme.
Images and video footage show many rioters wearing Palestinian keffiyehs while waving Mexican and Palestinian flags. In one photo, a man waving a Mexican flag is seen sporting the headband of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a Marxist terror group responsible for hijackings and bombings in multiple continents.
At a similar protest in Washington, DC, demonstrators chanted: “From Palestine to Mexico, the border walls have got to go.”
At a demonstration in New York City, protestors shouted: “From Mexico to Gaza, globalize the intifada.” A common refrain posted on social media by Leftists is “F**k ICE, Free Palestine.”
On Tuesday, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk shared a graphic from a radical Leftist group showing that Palestine is the nexus of all Leftist causes, such as “struggles” against misogyny, the patriarchy, colonialism, climate change, racism, White supremacy, capitalism, and more.
“Palestine is the issue that makes us realise everything is interconnected,” the graphic read. “Every struggle for justice, freedom, and liberation. All connected [sic]. From Palestine, to Congo, to Sudan.”
The riots and protests spreading across the country in favor of illegal immigration share the same sentiment as the “Free Palestine” movement, which claims that Israel belongs to Muslims who lived there alongside Jews before 1948. Similarly, many illegal immigration activists—particularly the LA rioters—believe California rightfully belongs to Mexico, which they contend was “stolen” by the United States. That’s why those marching in the streets against the deportation of illegals often carry signs that read, “No human is illegal on stolen land.”
The goal is to ‘dismantle the United States’
Dalia Ziada, a prominent Egyptian Muslim writer and expert on foreign affairs, explained that the pro-Palestine movement is about destabilizing the United States.
“While the #LosAngelesRiots appear to be spearheaded by members of the Latino community directly impacted by ICE policies, the presence of ‘Free Palestine’ flags and keffiyehs was unmistakable in nearly every violent incident captured on video,” she wrote in an X post on Tuesday.
“It is yet another grim reminder that the so-called ‘Free Palestine’ movement is less about helping the Palestinians and more about destabilizing the United States...
“The unholy alliance between Marxist radicals (anarchists) and Islamist extremists continues to pose a dire threat to America’s national security. One piece of a larger strategy aligned with the long-standing goals of both radical Islamists and the far left is to undermine and ultimately dismantle the United States.”
‘It has nothing to do with building a state’
Ziada’s comments echo remarks from other commentators like Dave Rubin, who said “Free Palestine” is not about building a state but dismantling a civilization.
“Why is it that wherever they are, they’re burning their own countries’ flags, right?” asked Rubin. “So they do it in Paris, and they do it in London, and they do it in Brussels, and they do it wherever they are. They’re burning their own countries’ flags while they’re showing you a flag of a country that never existed and will never exist. Why are they doing that? Because it has nothing to do with building a State of Palestine. It has to do with destroying the Western states that put tolerance at the top of that hierarchy.”
Domestic terrorism
Rubin’s comments came after a demand from CNN’s Scott Jennings to designate the pro-Palestinian movement as domestic terrorism. “What more do we need to see, Jake, before we realize this ‘free Palestine’ movement is nothing more than a domestic terror organization?” he asked Jake Tapper last week.
“The rise of antisemitism in America, the rise of the number of people who have come to America who hold anti-American views, anti-Western views, and antisemitic views — and are now willing to act on it – it is absolutely outrageous,” Jennings continued. “And I think as a society, we need to understand. We are dealing with domestic terrorism, it’s growing more violent by the day, and if we don’t deal with it, these kinds of things are going to keep happening in cities all over the place. It’s awful, and we need to come to grips with the fight that we’re in right now in America, a fight for the future of our country and the future of Western civilization.”
