Ottawa: Respected epidemiologist Dr Paul Alexander possibly arrested while speaking to protesters

UPDATED Feb 20

Dr. Paul Alexander is a respected, highly accomplished and published epidemiologist with a focus on evidence based medicine (EBM).  He has worked as the COVID Pandemic evidence-synthesis advisor to WHO-PAHO, Washington, DC (2020), and was Senior Advisor to COVID Pandemic policy in the US government, Health and Human Services (HHS), Washington, DC.  Dr. Alexander also worked as an epidemiologist for 12 years for the government of Canada.

Dr. Alexander has spoken out against the misguided policies of the U.S. and Canadian governments.  He has said publicly that the proper approach to the pandemic was to protect the at-risk populations and let everyone else continue their lives.  Dr. Alexander is an outspoken proponent of early treatment and blames the deaths of thousands of Canadians on the failure of the government to institute and encourage it.  He has called out the mainstream media, government and the College of Physicians and Surgeons (Ontario) for their utter failure in their approach to COVID, calling them “corrupted to the core”.

As a Canadian, Dr. Alexander felt a deep sense of responsibility and empathy for the truckers and other protesters of the Freedom Convoy.  The Canadian government’s trampling of human rights and brutality against law abiding and peaceful Canadians was bad enough.  But Dr. Alexander knew that the science was on the side of the protesters, not the government.  This was too much to bear so Dr. Alexander went to Ottawa to explain the science in support of the protesters hoping to influence Canadian MPs to change government policy.

On Saturday February 19, Dr. Alexander spoke with protesters in front of Parliament Hill.  He wrote, “As a scientist, I am outraged and angered by what the government has done today in Ottawa for they have no science on their side and the reality is … that the truckers have the science on their side, … but the government will not even move to negotiate a reasonable peaceful solution; Why?”

One of the speakers Danny Bulford a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 15 years, a sniper who protected Trudeau, said, “… under the [emergency] order, Canadians continue to be allowed to come to Ottawa with their children if they choose to engage in peaceful, lawful protest. The order only restricts people from coming to Ottawa with intention to engage in violence, block critical infrastructure, or to disrupt trade....

“The freedom convoy and our supporters have always denounced violence.  We only support peaceful protest,” Bulford continued.

“We call on our fellow Canadians to come to Ottawa to exercise their legal right of assembly and protest.  The more Canadians that come to Ottawa will make it harder for the government to get the police to follow their illegal order.”

Bulford was arrested after his speech.

Police officers told Dr. Alexander that if he “entered any further the restricted red zone around Parliament,” that he  “would be arrested”. Dr. Alexander writes, “I was told by informed persons to NOT enter the zone from today, LEAVE; I was told by those enforcing that they know me, have followed me and McCullough and Malone etc. and support our thinking … that when I talk on the stage they are moved by the data and science and message and they nor family have heard it this way before and thanked me, thanked me deeply, that they love and support the truckers and know that the vaccine does not work and is even harmful and fear for their own safety now as they have read lots now about the harms after taking the vaccine, forced to, mandated to, but then said to me candidly, ‘Dr. Alexander, if you move one more inch into the zone, you will be arrested.’

“I realized immediately it was to silence me … by threat of arrest, immediate; … that is what the government was trying to do, that they lost the narrative and I had to be silenced as one skeptic and contrarian and I became a problem with the message I was delivering on the stage outside Parliament;…

“I was informed across the day that my message and writing and interviews have hurt the government in that it is getting through to the population, … that the message is having an effect and many MPs are listening and moving positions, but that I was in danger now if I moved near parliament, not even to the hotel I was staying at. I was barred from movement.”

This is the last communication we have from Dr. Alexander.  We do not know if he is free or has been arrested.  We pray for his safety and all the others who are exercising their legal right of assembly and protest.
