Media outlets that exploited ‘unvaccinated’ deaths now fume over Damar Hamlin reaction
News outlets who spent two years reporting unvaccinated deaths are now outraged over the suggestion that NFL player Damar Hamlin’s collapse during a game Monday was connected to the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Monday Night Football game was suspended after 24-year-old Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field.
Cardiac arrest has become a signature adverse event of the COVID-19 vaccine, with some studies pinning a 25% increase in cardiac events in young men on the injections. Another investigation in 2021 found a five-fold increase in sudden cardiac and unexplained deaths among FIFA athletes.
But when people took to social media to point out the connection between the shots and cardiac arrest, media outlets fumed for “exploiting” Hamlin’s injury.
“Damar Hamlin: How anti-vaxxers exploited player's collapse,” wrote the BBC.
“RIGHT-WINGERS ARE EXPLOITING DAMAR HAMLIN’S MEDICAL EMERGENCY TO PUSH ANTI-VAX CONSPIRACIES,” screamed Vanity Fair.
“Anti-vaxxers using Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin to promote evil agenda,” seethed IndyStar, which Google has placed at the top of the search results for “Damar Hamlin vaccine”.
“Charlie Kirk Branded 'Human Garbage' Over Damar Hamlin Remarks,” wrote Newsweek, referring to Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk who wrote, “This is a tragic and all too familiar sight right now: Athletes dropping suddenly.”
But when it came to the death of someone who refused the shots, Newsweek waxed lyrical.
“Unvaccinated 28-Year-Old in Denial of COVID Diagnosis Dies After Ripping Off Oxygen Mask,” the outlet reported in January 2022.
“Anti-Vaccine Speaker Pasquale Bacco Repents After Fan Dies of COVID,” it crowed in February 2022.
“Unvaccinated 28-Year-Old Husband Dies of COVID, Wife Survives Because She Had Vaccine,” read a headline in August 2021.
“Unvaccinated Man Almost Killed by COVID Regrets Not Getting Shots: 'I Was Terribly Wrong'”, reported Newsweek in January 2022.
Contrary to Newsweek's tales of regret among those who refused the shots, Frontline News recently reported that it is the vaccinated who are currently experiencing overwhelming buyer's remorse.
The BBC also reported on “unvaccinated deaths”.
“Stephen Karanja: Kenyan anti-vaccine doctor dies from Covid-19,” the pro-mandate outlet trumpeted in April 2021.
Hamlin’s cardiac arrest comes just days after former NFL player Uche Nwaneri was found dead in his home. Autopsy results Monday revealed the 38-year-old Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker had died of an “enlarged heart with acute heart failure.”
Last month, NFL legend and four-time Superbowl champion Franco Harris died in his sleep at 72, though no cause of death was disclosed.
Also in December, New York Jets rookie offensive tackle Max Mitchell was sidelined after doctors found blood clots in one of his lungs and his right leg.
In November, 56-year-old former NFL defensive lineman Brad William Henke died in his sleep. No cause of death was disclosed.
Also in November, 45-year-old former NFL defensive lineman Adrian Dingle died unexpectedly. No cause of death was disclosed.
