Media: Criticizing George Soros now 'antisemitic'

Mainstream media figures are accusing those who criticize Marxist billionaire George Soros as being antisemitic following reports that he is connected to the recent indictment against President Donald Trump.

Soros has denied knowing or funding Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who indicted Trump last week.

“As a matter of fact I did not contribute to his campaign and I don’t know him,” the alleged Antifa financier told Semafor Founding Editor-at-Large Steve Clemons Friday. “I think some on the right would rather focus on far-fetched conspiracy theories than on the serious charges against the former president.”

But Soros personally donated $1 million to the Color of Change PAC which endorsed Bragg and campaigned on his behalf, revealed the Daily Wire. Soros’ son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jennifer, directly donated over $20,000 to Bragg’s campaign in April 2021.

"The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society," DeSantis said this month, adding on Thursday that he will not accommodate an extradition request by the “Soros-backed” Bragg.

Media pundits, however, are insisting that any suggestion of a connection between Soros and Bragg is antisemitic.

“Just so you know, the use of ‘Soros-funded’ to blast a Democratic prosecutor is an accusation deeply rooted in antisemitism," MSNBC host Joy Reid told her audience. "Ron DeSantis, who once signed a bill to curb anti-Semitism also invoked George Soros in his critique of the hush money probe."

Reid even brought on several people to confirm that invoking George Soros is antisemitism, including “legal expert” Andrew Weissmann, former CIA officer Tracy Walder and journalist Peter Beinart.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough also slammed DeSantis for engaging in “antisemitism” by reminding viewers three times that Soros is a “Jewish international banker”.

"They’re attacking Jewish international bankers. It is what antisemites have been doing for hundreds of years: attacking Jewish international bankers. That’s what they do. They try to blame everything on Jewish international bankers. It’s Germany 1933,” Scarborough told his audience dramatically.

These comments by media pundits in Soros’ defense are not surprising considering the billionaire is tied to at least 54 influential media figures through his funding. These figures include executive editors at the Washington Post, the Associated PressReuters and others, along with NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde, who runs NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC.

A report last year from the Media Research Center (MRC) also found that Soros has been funding 253 groups that influence global media.

One of those groups is The Poynter Institute, the world’s largest fact-checking giant and owner of PolitiFact. Between 2016 and 2020, The Poynter Institute’s International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) received $492,000 from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. Poynter is also funded by such notable organizations as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy, Ebay´s Omidyar Foundation, and others.

It comes as no surprise, therefore, that fact-checking sites deny Soros’ involvement in confiscating property from Jews during the Holocaust. The billionaire admitted to doing so in a 1998 interview with 60 Minutes, smiling when he said that he feels “no guilt”.

As of August 2022 Soros invested $40 million installing 75 district attorneys across the country who in turn are responsible for an estimated 40% of the crime in the United States.
