Mayo Clinic Director accused of abusing patient who refused Remdesivir

Mayo Clinic Hospital Medical Director Dr. Alyssa Chapital stands accused of abusing an elderly patient last year who refused Remdesivir, a failed antiviral drug used for COVID-19 known to cause kidney failure and death. 

Despite Remdesivir’s harmful effects and poor efficacy in treating COVID-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci made it the pandemic’s drug of choice. This meant that the federal government, under the CARES Act, would give hospitals a 20% bonus for using certain products for COVID-19, including Remdesivir. With a high price tag of $3,120 per treatment, Remdesivir was eagerly adopted by hospitals. 

Ali Schulz is saying that Mayo Clinic in Arizona is no exception, and that Medical Director Dr. Alyssa Chapital even abused her father-in-law after he refused Remdesivir. 

In her emotional testimony at a recent Arizona Medical Board hearing, Schulz alleged that as an inpatient hospitalized under the care of Dr. Chapital, her father-in-law – whom she refers to as her father – was denied all therapeutics and most vitamins and denied hydration and nourishment for six days, except for one bag of D-5 water that she “had to weep and beg for days for him to finally receive.” 

Schulz also says her father-in-law “was experimented on without knowledge, let alone informed consent,” given morphine despite explicit refusal of the drug, and isolated for 24 days despite Arizona Department of Health and CDC guidelines mandating up to 10 days isolation after the onset of symptoms.  

“I often wonder if this was so she could continue to bill those critical care rates, to offset her repayment amount to the Biden Administration of the federal CARES act funding accelerated prepayments she already received?” Schulz asked the Arizona Medical Board. 

“Dr. Chapital is actively engaged in lowering the patient standard of care,” she added. 

Schulz made reference to audio recordings she previously provided the board in which Dr. Chapital admitted to Schulz that she and other hospital executives actively lower the standard of care with “coordinated restrictions on visitation rights.” 

In one recording provided by Schulz, a woman who is allegedly Dr. Chapital can be heard saying, “As far as visitations in our hospital, we are not going to allow you to visit him in our hospital as long as he is here.” 

Then Schulz accused the hospital of abusing her father-in-law in retaliation for costing them the bonus they might have received had they been able to bill for Remdesivir. 

“I have provided you with the police report during my father’s stay at Mayo which states, ‘FELONY, vulnerable adult abuse,’” said Schulz. “I felt most of this abuse occurred directly after and as a direct punishment for our refusal of Remdesivir. I realize the hospital would have received a roughly 20% bonus on my father’s entire hospital bill had we agreed to Remdesivir, but knowing that Remdesivir caused 53% of patients in the Ebola trial to die of kidney failure, we refused the experimental drug.” 

Furthermore, Schulz says her father-in-law was administered ivermectin at home after discharge, which healed him. Ivermectin remains a cheap and effective treatment for COVID-19, but reviled by Dr. Fauci, the FDA, the medical establishment, mainstream media outlets and social media platforms. 

“Despite being told multiple times my father is going to die and needs a ventilator, and multiple attempts by Mayo of actually blocking him from leaving, we got him home, he took ivermectin and he’s fine now,” shared Schulz, who also said her father-in-law's patient record was altered and “falsified”. 

“This is so much larger than just one patient,” she concluded. “And all those people who died under her watch, I believe they died from a lack of hydration, denial of therapeutics, being experimented on, drugged, and sheer loneliness. 

“I will not let this doctor hide behind administrative procedure, corporate policy or protocol, and cover up the wrongdoing that has happened on her watch. None of this has been patient-centered care. Thank you for your time.” 

According to Hands for Health and Freedom, Dr. Chapital has been suspended from her post as medical director pending the results of the investigation. 

Neither Dr. Chapital nor Mayo Clinic immediately responded to America’s Frontline News’ request for comment.
