Ivermectin' starts trending as Twitter shackles removed

Users across Twitter are celebrating Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform Monday in a $44 billion deal with the company’s Board of Directors. The move was widely cheered by users hoping that with Musk at the helm, the platform will allow free speech.

Indeed, those hopes appear well-founded as Twitter users have begun speaking freely in recent hours, tweeting previously “unacceptable” views that were censored under the platform’s previous owners.

Among those views is the one that drugs such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine are effective as inexpensive early treatments for COVID-19. While that conclusion is backed by science, it was not backed by Twitter’s management, leading to the censorship and even removal of physicians who made the statement.

This was particularly true in the case of America’s Frontline Doctors, a group of hundreds of leading physicians who successfully use the drugs to treat COVID-19. The human rights group’s Twitter account was shut down after promoting the life-saving treatments.

Now, “Ivermectin” began trending as users test out the “new” platform by advocating for the drugs.

“Testing... Testing... Testing... Ivermectin cured my COVID,” wrote The Blaze’s Keith Malinak.

“Ivermectin is a wonder drug,” tweeted author Michael Knowles.

“HYDROXYCHLOROQUIN IS A MIRACLE DRUG! ASK YOUR DR,” said Newsmax TV host Greg Kelly.

“I'm testing the Twitter freedom,” said Congressional candidate Erick Aguilar. "1. Ivermectin works, 2. Hydroxicloriquine works, 3. Vaccines are ineffective 4. Masks don't work 5. Boosters are killing people. 6. Dr Malone and Joe Rogan are heroes. Let's see if Elon keeps his word...”

Other notable tweets include:

“Can I tweet the word Ivermectin now? Is it finally acceptable?”

“Seriously! Two weeks ago I was banned for 7 days for tweeting a journal article on ivermectin. Now…nothing. Amazing. #ElonEffect.”

“Ivermectin works. Thanks Elon.”

“Let's test out Twitter. -IVERMECTIN WORKS. -Trump Won the 2020 Election. -There is a Clinton Body Count. -Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself. -Bill Gates wants you dead. KEEP adding to the list...”

“Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine work. That’s all!”

“To be able to type ‘Ivermectin’ instead of ‘Ivor Mectin’ or ‘vaccine’ instead of ‘vaxxine’ fills me with joy. It’s the little things, you know?”

“Ivermectin. Not horse-dewormer. Saved countless lives (perhaps could have saved ALL of them if it were allowed). #Ivermectin. Now that a grownup who allows multiple viewpoints is in charge of Twitter, expect more Free Speech assaults like this. #BuzzOff Libtards.”

“Can I say IVERMECTIN SAVES LIVES now?!”
