Israel declines to comment on whether Amman hotels sheltering Palestinian refugees may become target
Israel today would neither confirm nor deny reports of Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flying missions over Amman during the past three days.
Frontline News asked the Israel Defense Force (IDF) Spokesman to clarify the reports, that originated with Palestinian sources currently staying in Amman hotels to escape anticipated IDF reprisals. The IDF declined to comment on the matter.
The sources claim to base their reports on Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate (GID) officials, who say Israel plans to bomb the hotels sheltering Palestinian women and children, should a fourth front open in Judea and Samaria. The objective would ostensibly be to undermine and demoralize Palestinian fighters in Judea/Samaria, however, observers say such an operation may be intended to prevent the refugees' return and create facts on the ground.
Frontline News asked the official Palestinian Authority (PA) Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA) to comment. The answer received was: “There's no truth to these reports, absolutely not.”
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal today quoted Palestinian Authority officials saying an Israeli airstrike on a Gaza hospital has killed more than 500. Israel's military says that according to intelligence information, the Islamic Jihad is responsible for a malfunctioned rocket that hit the hospital.
Also, IDF fighter jets struck an observation post and military infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah Islamic organization in Lebanon, reported Arutz Sheva.
The blasts come hours before Joe Biden is scheduled to arrive in Israel.
