Islamic group in Michigan ‘thanks Allah’ for the ‘praiseworthy’ murder of Charlie Kirk
An Islamic media organization in Michigan is urging Muslims to celebrate the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk on September 10th.
Project Guiding Light is an English-language media outlet affiliated with Ahmad Musa Jibril, a radical Islamic preacher born and based in Dearborn, Michigan. Jibril has openly supported ISIS and served over six years in prison for conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, and possession of firearms and ammunition, according to MEMRI. He is highly influential among jihadists in the US and abroad, and is believed to have inspired terror attacks.
‘Whoever insults the Prophet … is to be killed’
On October 10th, exactly a month after Kirk’s assassination, Project Guiding Light published a 39-minute video titled: "The Fate of Charlie Kirk: The Insulter of the Messenger [Prophet Muhammad] and His Ruling According to Islam." The video argues that Kirk, who was highly critical of Islam, insulted Muhammed and therefore deserved to die.
"Whoever insults the Prophet or disparages him, whether Muslim or disbeliever, then he is to be killed," the narrator states in the video, as quoted in the Washington Free Beacon. "What greater enemy to the Sharia [Islamic law] is there than someone who insults the Messenger and by extension Allah?"
The video mocked Islamic figures who condemned “this dog's [Kirk's] assassination” as “clowns.”
"To see these clowns rush to condemn such an act in the name of Islam that had nothing to do with Islam or the Muslims to begin with begs a question: what is their motive for such a swift and unsolicited condemnation? Who are they trying to appease?" the narrator asks, declaring Kirk "an open and belligerent enemy of Islam" and encouraging Muslims to "be rejoicing and thanking Allah."
"How can you clowns then condemn an action the Prophet praised?" the narrator says, after endorsing vigilante justice.
The video emphasizes that “Believers” should be "thanking Allah for ridding the Muslims of an open and transgressing enemy."
The video remains accessible on Instagram.
Kirk’s criticism of Islam
Kirk repeatedly and openly criticized Islam, which he saw as a threat to Western civilization.
“Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America,” Kirk wrote on X a day before his death.
The Turning Point USA founder previously referred to Muhammad as “a warlord who married a six-year-old, raped her when she was nine, and then kept multiple wives.”
“Think like Jeffrey Epstein with a standing army. That's basically Muhammad, right?” Kirk told an audience at an event.
He was also critical of the Quran, which he called “demonic” and slammed for being preoccupied with “non-believers.”
“In the Islamic texts, they spend so much time about people who do not share their values,” he said in an interview with Gad Saad. “Christianity spends a fair amount of time on it, but nowhere near Islam, though. It doesn't seem—there are like direct calls in Islam of what to do for those that don't believe, and it's a very pernicious preoccupation.”
