Here’s how a Muslim group is sponsoring Islamic propaganda in Philadelphia schools

The Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is promoting propaganda in Philadelphia schools that whitewashes 9/11, teaches antisemitism, and trains students to reject “Islamophobia.”

CAIR bills itself as a civil rights group of moderate Muslims, but has been a longtime supporter of Hamas. As early as 1994, after Hamas openly called for the genocide of Jews, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad endorsed the terror group. In 2023, Awad cheered Hamas’ October 7th massacre of some 1,200 Israelis. Awad and CAIR co-founder Omar Ahmad both have ties to Hamas through the Islamic Association of Palestine. The United Arab Emirates designated CAIR as a terror organization for its ties to Hamas’ parent network, the Muslim Brotherhood.

K12 Trackers reported on Tuesday that CAIR’s Philadelphia chapter is working to foment pro-Islamic sentiment and antisemitism in local schools. Although it is Muslim, the group is co-opting Leftist values like “inclusion” and “bigotry” to achieve its aims.

In one example, CAIR-Philadelphia published a guide for Pennsylvania and Delaware schools on how to teach students about the September 11th attacks. The organization, which says it “dedicates much of our time to addressing anti-Muslim bigotry in school settings,” instructed educators to avoid associating the terror attack with Islam.

“Avoid using language that validates the claims of the 9/11 attackers by associating their acts of mass murder with Islam and Muslims,” the guide reads. “For example, avoid using inaccurate and inflammatory terms such as 'Islamic terrorists,' 'jihadists,' or 'radical Islamic terrorists.’”

The document also tells schools to frame Muslims as victims of the 9/11 attacks.

“When discussing the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks—the invasion of Afghanistan, the Iraq War, Guantanamo Bay, etc.—also include discussion of the bigotry and hate crimes that impacted Sikh Americans, Muslim Americans, Arab Americans and other minorities in the days, months and years after the attack,” said the guide.

On its website, CAIR-Philadelphia offers a workshop called “American Jews and Political Power: Myth or Reality.”

“This workshop examines the controversial topic of Jewish political power in the U.S. in a fair and balanced manner. We will discuss the key organizations in the American Jewish community, such as ADL, AIPAC, ACJ, and JCRC. We will also examine the heated debate inside the Jewish establishment over Israel’s occupation of Palestinian lands and learn about the young Jewish activists who are supporting the BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) campaign against Israel,” the seminar’s description reads.

‘We can have in ten years, at least 40-50 members of Congress’

In a speech at the East Plano Islamic Center last year, Awad bewailed Islamophobia and promised to infiltrate Congress and American industries.

"There is Islamophobia [in the U.S.] that is so deeply rooted in the culture, in academia, in Hollywood, in the portrayal of Islam,” he said, according to MEMRI. “For hundreds of years, Islam has been denigrated, the Prophet has been smeared and defamed in books and textbooks that were taught in public schools, that Allah be praised, we have been working to eliminate and change.”

Awad unveiled the organization's plan to create an “army” of 50,000 academics, journalists, and lawyers to create pro-Islam narratives.

“If we commit to do this, four years from now, the Muslim community will have 4,000 new journalists, we will have 4,000 filmmakers, 4,000 lawyers, 4,000 students of political science, 4,000 students of history,” he said.

Within the decade, CAIR hopes to start carving out a major Muslim presence in the US government:

“We can have in ten years, at least 40-50 members of Congress — in the US Congress.”
