Hair salon refuses to service 'trans' pronoun crowd

Studio 8 Hair Lab owner Christine Geiger has made a crystal-clear stand when it comes to serving customers who align with sexually deviant ideologies: She won't do it.

The Traverse City, Michigan salon's Instagram profile describes it as “A private CONSERVATIVE business that does not cater to woke ideologies." Geiger has declared that they will refuse service to anyone who does not identify as either a man or a woman, or any customer who requests to be called by a specific pronoun, whether they identify as “transgender” themselves, or want to stand in solidarity with those who do.

The salon's position was first made public in a Facebook post that has since been removed, but not before a Traverse City resident reposted it on the “Overheard in Traverse City” Facebook page. In the post, Geiger frankly states:

If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman please seek services at a local pet groomer. You are not welcome at this salon. Period…Should you request to have a particular pronoun used we may simply refer to you as 'hey you.’

The post also implies that the salon plans to stick to its position despite the legislation signed by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in March which creates certain legal protections around gender identity and expression in the state.

The response on social media to Studio 8 Hair Lab's unabashed stance was largely one of outrage and indignation, with cries for boycotts and legal action.

Geiger responded to some of the virulent comments by suggesting that those who don't like her opinion can simply seek service elsewhere:

Since I am not willing to play the pronoun game or cater to requests outside of what I perceive as normal this probably isn’t the best option for that type of client…There are plenty of salons/stylists willing to cater to what I will not. This is a free country and I am not a slave to any narrative.

When a fellow local salon owner chimed in to say he would be “more than willing” to have the business and support the choices of those Studio 8 Hair Lab turns away, Geiger responded, “Thank you. There’s a right place for everyone.”

The Epoch Times reports further social media comments from Geiger about the inclination of the “other side” to be instantly affronted when conservatives push back against their woke ideology:

They can’t handle it. They aren’t prepared for this. So I am more than willing to take the first rounds of strike backs in hopes that more of you will see this and be inspired to stand up tall and speak your own truths.
