Eric Clapton sings out against tyranny

Eric Clapton's single “Heart of a Child” brings messages of encouragement and support to people struggling with fear and hopelessness in our turbulent times. The iconic musician released the song in December 2021 at the height of COVID, when lockdowns and vaccine pressure had many feeling desperate.

The lyrics of “Heart of a Child” — co-written by Clapton and Robin Monotti — speak directly to parents experiencing despair and demoralization, urging them to stay strong and persevere for the sake of their children. The chorus implores: “Don't break the heart of your child. Don't let the fear drive you wild.” They encourage people to “turn off the TV and throw your phone away” to escape the lies of the mainstream narrative.

Clapton's 56-year recording career had been remarkably devoid of protest songs and politics until 2021 when he began to speak out and sing out against lockdowns and COVID mandates. “Heart of a Child” joins other songs such as “This Has Gotta Stop” and “Stand and Deliver” (by Van Morrison, performed by Clapton), which make a stand against today's injustices. Clapton also drew a line in the sand for his fans, pledging only to perform in venues where concert-goers would not be required to be vaccinated.

Clapton's stance on societal issues of the past few years has caused confusion and consternation among many of his family members, friends, and fellow musicians. He has experienced harsh criticism for refusing to use his influence as a prominent public figure to persuade others to follow government mandates.

In an interview with Oracle Films, Clapton candidly describes his journey navigating the pressures and propaganda of COVID. Along the way, he opted to take the first two COVID shots, but experienced adverse health effects so severe that he feared he might never pick up a guitar again. It was after this frightening experience that he began to speak out against the “vaccine” and the increasing attempts of governments to gain control over their citizens.

“I believe most of all in free speech and freedom of movement…and life, and love and kindness.” he states.

About his refusal to stay silent, Clapton admits, “I tell you the best bit about it for me is that I might be becoming a nuisance for those guys. I'd love to be an annoyance to some of them that sit around that table [world leaders at the G7 Summit in the United Kingdom are pictured in the interview video]. That would give me tremendous satisfaction.”

While some fans may have turned their backs on Clapton for his unapologetic stance, many remain and applaud his courage. The YouTube comments for the “Heart of a Child” music video feature such acclamations as:

“Probably the single most important song/message from any artist in this current age of tyranny and fear.”

“I'll never forget that while most of my ‘heroes’ wilted and bowed down like slaves, Eric Clapton stood his ground for Love, Light, Peace and Truth.”
