Energy guzzler John Kerry demands destitute country cut back on oil sales
Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry Tuesday asked the Democratic Republic of Congo, one of the poorest countries in the world, to cut back on auctioning some of its oil blocks to protect the forests, according to Reuters.
“We know it’s urgent. I spoke yesterday with the Deputy Prime Minister and I will speak this afternoon with the President, but it is his decision,” Kerry told journalists at the pre-COP27 conference in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
Kerry is known for his obscene consumption of energy, including private-jetting around the world while warning the end is nigh for those who don’t change their climate ways. Kerry famously flew his private jet to Iceland last year to receive a “climate leadership” award. According to a report by Townhall, Kerry held several investments in oil companies before being tapped as Biden’s climate commissar.
But Kerry is demanding that DR Congo, a country riddled with poverty and corruption and one of the poorest nations in the world according to the Daily Wire, scale back its oil auctions.
“We have clearly described our interest in protecting the forests. We have asked for some blocks to be removed from the auction,” he said.
But DR Congo’s Environment Minister Eve Bazaiba pushed back at Kerry and other wealthier countries at the conference, saying that "the G20 is responsible for 80% of the pollution in the world. . . . the real debate of this pre-COP and COP27 is the responsibility of the polluting countries."
"What should we do in this circumstance," she asked, "let our children and small children die of hunger? As much as we need oxygen, we also need bread."
Kerry is known for his “scorched earth” approach to the environment, which takes precedence over human needs. In March, Kerry said “climate change” was worse than the Russia-Ukraine war and expressed concern that the war was stealing attention from the “war on climate change”.
America’s Frontline News reported in August that Kerry has been crafting policies with Left-wing environmental groups while refusing to consult with fossil fuel energy companies.
John Kerry’s SPEC office remains a glaring black hole in the U.S. government, with the American public kept much in the dark about the climate commissar’s activities.
Internal emails from Kerry’s office obtained by government watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) via a FOIA request reveal references to “elements we can’t put on paper”.
In a March email concerning the budget for fiscal year 2022-2023 titled, “updated memo for JK on FY23 budget settlement,” one employee wrote, “I would also suggest a call or meeting soon with jk to update him on FY22 and 23, focusing on all the elements we can’t put on paper.”
The former secretary of state’s salary also remains a secret, even as the salaries of other government officials are public knowledge, being footed as they are by American taxpayers.
The State Department outright refused to disclose this information in response to a FOIA request by the Boston Herald in March, saying that the request “does not demonstrate a ‘compelling need’ for the requested information. Therefore, this Office denies your request for expedited processing.”
Instead, the State Department’s FOIA office notified the Herald that it can expect to receive an answer in 2024.
