Ecuador: Health Ministry, government sued for COVID shot contents, contracts
A public hearing Friday was held In Ecuador against the Health Ministry and National Government of Ecuador, whom plaintiffs claimed denied public information to the people, including the content of the COVID-19 injections and the contracts signed for purchasing the experiments.
It took place after four months of postponements by the judges in the Judicial Complex of Quitumbe Parish, south of the City of Quito in the Family Childhood and Adolescence Judicial Unit.
The lawsuit was filed by a group of Ecuadorian citizens, representatives of various social organizations, including the Ecuadorian Human Rights Organization (ODE) – represented by Attorney William Sánchez - due to the number of children, young people, and adults who have been harmed, in many cases even died, after being injected with these substances.
The Constitution of Ecuador implicitly declares in the Organic Law of Access to Public Information and in the Organic Law on Judicial Guarantees and Constitutional Control what is the concept of “Public Information”, granting citizens the right to request it from the Public Entities who, in turn, have the obligation to deliver it.
The Health Ministry, supported by non-elected officials, refused to provide this information, justifying that they had signed “confidentiality clauses”. Plaintiffs say this action was illegal and unconstitutional.
Attorney Sánchez explained: “The agreements between the State and a private party will never be above the supreme social contract that is our Constitution.
"Likewise, no judge with the most elementary ethics can deny us the requested information as it would violate our constitutional rights, and be worthy of general condemnation by the Ecuadorian people."
