Dutch citizens cheer as WEF-backed government collapses

Dutch citizens are cheering the collapse of its globalist government Saturday after Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his cabinet tendered their resignations to King Willem-Alexander.

The resignations came after Rutte’s four-party coalition — in power for just 17 months — broke apart during negotiations over immigration policy last week. Rutte’s party, the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD), joined the Christian Democrats in backing stricter immigration policies, while the Christian Union and Democrats 66 parties opposed further restrictions on immigration. In a statement following his resignation, Rutte called the differences between the parties “irreconcilable”.

Rutte’s coalition will remain in a caretaker capacity, passing no new major laws until general elections are held later this year.

Many Dutch — particularly Dutch farmers — are now eyeing a more hopeful future for the Netherlands with the growing possibility of Rutte’s defeat in the next general elections. Rutte, a World Economic Forum devotee, has been the Netherlands’ prime minister since 2010 and has become known for his totalitarian climate policies.

Climate regulations pushed by Rutte’s government in recent years have primarily targeted farmers because their livestock’s urine, flatulence and sneezes are said to cause “climate change” through their nitrogen emissions.

Caps placed on how much nitrogen farmers are allowed to emit took effect last week and are expected to harm 30% of farms.

The Dutch government, which aims to halve its nitrogen-based emissions by 2030, received approval from the EU Commission in May to buy out 3,000 farms. Expected to cost €1.47 billion ($1.62 billion), the project will pay certain breeding farmers 100%–120% of their losses if they voluntarily close their farms. The farmer must also agree to never breed animals in the Netherlands or the EU again.

Breeding sites being targeted for closure are all small- or medium-sized farms, according to a statement from the EU Commission.

Dutch Nature Minister Christianne van der Wal warned last month that the government will force closures if farmers do not opt in to the buyout program.

“The government is fully committed to this voluntary approach and hopes that many of the businesses that qualify will participate. . . . [T]he government wants to prevent mandatory measures,” said van der Wal.

Negotiations between farmers and the Dutch government collapsed last week, sparking fresh protests during which farmers blocked roads with their tractors in defiance of government orders.

Demonstrations swept the Netherlands last year to protest the climate regulations, with farmers setting bales of hay ablaze and spreading manure along highways. Many blocked distribution centers for supermarkets and video footage show scuffles between the farmers and undercover police at The Hague. Dutch police met the protesters with violent — and even lethal — force, shooting at farmers and nearly killing a child.

But in March, the Dutch people issued a referendum on the government’s harsh climate mandates in a provincial vote.

The Farmer-Citizen Movement, or BoerburgerBeweging (BBB), was established in 2019 in response to the government’s plan to “fight climate change” by restricting food production and putting farmers out of business. The BBB shocked the country earlier this year with a landslide win in provincial elections, winning 15 senate seats.

Now representing 20% of the senate, the BBB is on course to become the largest party in the Dutch senate and remains a significant threat to Rutte’s chances of re-election.

“The banners and flags are still in the shed,” said BBB Leader Caroline van der Plas after the government’s collapse, signaling the party’s readiness to fight for victory later this year.

“After 10+ years of Mark Rutte’s globalist destruction policies, we now have a real chance of getting our country back,” tweeted Dutch activist and political commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek, who added she is skeptical that Rutte truly backs stricter immigration policies.

“If the Dutch people stop falling for his lies and get rid of him and his globalist policies once and for all, we can actually turn things around, stop the expropriation of our farmers, push back on immigration, and take back our national sovereignty from organisations like the EU and the WEF,” she said.

Rutte’s globalist policies have earned him disrepute in other countries as well.

“GOOD NEWS: The WEF-penetrated farm-destroying Rutte government has fallen in the Netherlands,” tweeted UK Heritage Party Leader MP David Kurten Saturday.
