COVID pushback tops the charts
In the battle of how to best deal with COVID, two distinct camps have emerged, a more authoritarian approach that advocates lockdowns, population tracking, vaccination mandates vs the more libertarian approach that opts for early medical treatments, protecting the venerable, and trusting people to make the best decisions. Across America, and even more so across the world, its assumed that the authoritarian position is favored by the vast majority, and the libertarian approach is a very small minority.
In the past, this minority has pointed to a significant number of experts, such as the signers of the Barrington Declaration, or to the fact those who resist the COVID vaccines are among the highest educated. Recently, the more libertarian position has achieved successes in the cultural arena. For example, the number one selling book on Amazon last week was The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health a book written by Robert F. Kennedy Jr outlining the problems with the medical establishment and their response to COVID.
“The Real Anthony Fauci details how Fauci, Gates, and their cohorts use their control of media outlets, scientific journals, key government, and quasi-governmental agencies, global intelligence agencies, and influential scientists and physicians to flood the public with fearful propaganda about COVID-19 virulence and pathogenesis, and to muzzle debate and ruthlessly censor dissent.”
Despite being a bestseller, RFK was largely ignored by the mainstream media, with the notable exception of Tucker Carlson, who himself is a vocal advocate against the authoritarian approach. His show has not shied away from interviewing guests that question the lockdowns, vaccination mandates, etc. Of all the mainstream news programs, most would have assumed his would be down on the list of popular programs, but it’s just the opposite, Tucker Carlson is the most-watched cable news show in America.
Among podcasts, The Ben Shapiro Show is the top news podcast on Spotify, even beating The Daily, by the New York Times. The trend is not limited to books, and news, even the music charts are showing that more and more people are enjoying a freedom-based approach to life and the handling of COVID. A new rap song called Welcome to the Revolution was released by Hi-Rez and Jimmy Levy and just made it to the top ten on iTunes, an unusual place for a song with such a strong political message. The song called for an awakening and non-compliance reminiscent of Blind Joe’s I Will Not Comply.
"We will not comply
With the institutions
Sick illusion
No, it won't be televised
Welcome to the revolution
Won't comply with the lies
They disguising as science
They want you complying
The media's biased
These corporate giants
Are capitalizing on us
By dividing
But I'll keep on fighting"
