Babylon Bee shares 70 times its satire became prophecy

Popular satire site Babylon Bee Tuesday published a collection of 70 instances in which their satirical stories ventured beyond satire and into the realm of prophecy.

In February 2022, the Bee ran a story titled, “Researchers Determine The Science Has Changed After Carefully Examining Poll Numbers.” As it turned out, an actual memo from political strategists was leaked in which they warned Democrats to declare the crisis stage of COVID over.

The Bee also ran a December 2021 story in which Pfizer was working on a vaccine to cure myocarditis, caused by its own COVID-19 vaccine. This indeed came true – though it was Moderna, not Pfizer, who boasted about using an mRNA vaccine to cure spiking cardiac events.

“What if #mRNA could treat life-threatening #cardiovascular diseases such as #HeartFailure?” the pharma giant tweeted. “We are collaborating with @AstraZeneca on an mRNA therapeutic (AZD8601) that encodes for VEGF-A to promote recovery of cardiac function through tissue regeneration.”

At the height of Canada’s Freedom Convoy protests in February during which hundreds of thousands of Canadians protested COVID restrictions, the Bee published an article titled, “Xi Jinping Criticizes Trudeau's Heavy-Handed Approach,” referencing Trudeau’s authoritarian reaction to peaceful protesters. Just a week later, China dictator Xi Jinping did indeed criticize Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his harsh response to the protesters after Trudeau had slammed Xi Jinping’s response to protests in Hong Kong.

Another article in August 2021 was headlined, “Congress Passes Law Making Every Day January 6 So They Can Think About It All The Time.” The laughter died down when the New York Times published an editorial on New Year’s 2022 titled, “Every Day is January 6 Now.”

“Jan. 6 is not in the past,” the article gravely intoned. “It is every day.”

In September, the Bee satirized COVID alarmism with the headline, “Leftists Deeply Afraid Things Could Go Back To Normal”. Then in February, CTV News warned that “Lifting restrictions could cause anxiety for many as unknowns persist.”

The Bee published another article in December 2021, titled, “Oh No! Biden Checks His To-Do List And Realizes He Totally Forgot To Shut Down The Virus,” referring to Biden’s bold campaign promise in October 2020 that he was going to “shut down the virus.” Sure enough, the next month, The Hill noted that “Biden’s to-do list for 2022 looks a lot like 2021’s”, and criticized the White House occupant for reneging on his promise.

“Biden campaigned on a pledge to shut down the coronavirus, but he enters 2022 facing record-setting case numbers from the omicron variant and public fatigue with the pandemic,” wrote The Hill’s Brett Samuels.

The Bee’s article in November 2021, headlined “Surviving Inflation: 9 Easy Ways To Save Money On Your Thanksgiving This Year” was followed just days later by Fox News announcing that “NBC suggests not having Thanksgiving turkey this year to deal with inflation costs.”

In March, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon revealed that he was contacted by Elon Musk, who wanted to verify that the Bee had indeed been suspended from Twitter for joking that Biden official Rachel Levine is a man. Shortly after Dillon confirmed, Musk began his campaign to acquire Twitter.
